An overview of Anti-CTLA-4
A subset of CD28 homolog molecules called cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4), sometimes referred to as CD152, ALPS5, CELIAC3, GRD4, GSE, or IDDM12, is crucial in controlling T cell activation. Normally found in cell vesicles, CTLA-4 is transferred to the immunological synapse that forms between T cells and antigen-presenting cells (APCs). By obstructing T cell receptors and associated communication pathways, it prevents T cells from being further activated. According to preliminary research, T cells can be induced by CTLA-4 binding to its ligands, such as CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2), and T cell activation can be markedly enhanced by inhibiting CLTA-4 molecules.
