The Spirituality of Two Little Souls

The Spirituality of Two Little Souls

Feb 20 feast day By John C. Preiss “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:6 It so sad, looking at our society today. We see and hear so much about the harming of children especially through abortion and abuse. Children are such a special gift to all of us and should be protected. The simplicity and purity of a child’s soul is really special. Reflecting on this, brings to mind the feast day today of Saints Jacinta and Francisco. What heroic examples of faith that they bestowed. As Catholics they implant in us a desire for holiness through their many prayers, penances and sacrifices. The spiritual aspects of these precious little souls gives us hope that we can obtain a virtuous life that will ultimately lead us closer to Jesus and Mary. When we grow in this spiritual life we become united with the cross and the totality of our Lenten journey. This begins with simplifying our lives and becoming like little children. This means to be open to God’s graces and humbly accept Him in our lives. This also refers to letting the Holy Spirit be our guide. Our pride is a killer of many things, it taints our very being and enables us to not follow Christ And follow ourselves. As many of you know, serious problems begin to occur.

“Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.” Matthew 18:3-5

Meditate today, on this wonderful feast of these two little shepherds and their spiritual attributes. Prayer is our lifeline use it and use it often. Penance builds our spiritual character and keeps us close to Godly things instead of worldly things. Sacrifice is our daily duty to ourselves and others as we become united with the Body of Christ and bring our sacrifices to the altar.

God had a special plan for little Jacinta and Francisco. Now, he has a special plan for you. Ask for the intercession of Saints Jacinta and Francisco and they will help you and lead you to Jesus and Mary In a simple, humble way.
