The author is a library media specialist in Connecticut who has formed a girls' book club; also a boys' book club. Her goal is to get children to love reading and bond with parents in doing so; also to develop character as exemplified by the Fatima children, in this case Lucia. The book covers Lucia's childhood which should interest young people as it deepens their faith.

Cover and illustrations are by Sue C. Maciorowski who helped develop the story and designs for Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Hercules, and many others.

Lucia seems destined to be raised to the altar as were Blessed Jacinta and Francisco.
