Fr. Fox’s Journal 6/9/05

I was occupied by many visitors, phone calls, etc., although I was in need of getting the manuscript proof-read and returned as we are already late in getting all of it to the printers for the July release.  This afternoon a priest from Florida came to visit me for about one and a half hours.

At 6:30 P.M. “Jimmy” who had spent much time with me the preceding weekend phoned me to express his interest in becoming Catholic and he wanted to know if he could call me periodically.  I agreed that he could.  Since my retirement I promised myself that I would give people the time they needed or desired from this poor vessel as often in parish work with all my extra apostolates time was not always available.  Few realized during those many years that I had no housekeeper after my mother died, no secretary and besides parish work answered countless letters, long distance phone calls, even house calls from non parishioners, while writing many books.  I also conducted pilgrimages to Fatima and lectured throughout the USA, all as a spin-off of my work for the Catholic media.  As I am no longer a Pastor in a parish I can give more of my time to people.

Two single young men who take their faith seriously came to see me early this evening, many young people stop by my home for advice or to go to confession.  After visiting with them I had to leave to give a presentation at an Ultreya meeting(cursillo movement).  The presentation was on evangelization.

After I arrived back home I continued proof-reading my manuscript until midnight.
